I'll start off -- hi! Chickeninthewoods here, aka stephnd, aka stephanie. A longtime ER watcher, only periodic addict, with a taste for the snarky. And a weakness for blonde pseudo-curls.

Re: Introductions | ||

Hello! I might as well make this my first post.
I've been watching ER since halfway through the 3rd season. I believe the first episode I saw was called Night Shift. Where Benton yelled at an intern, and when asked, Carter told Anspaugh that Peter WASN'T too hard on the young intern. I was totally dragged in when Carter and Benton realized later that him committed suicide. Since then, I have been completely hooked on this show. I work Thursday nights, but I don't go to sleep until I watch it. (Talk about soap-opera addiction.) I also check out www.digiserve.com/er/index.html The alt.tv.er site weekly to get Dave and Phyl's reviews of the shows. Reading the reviews are the highlight of my week! (Yes, I have no life.) Thank you Dave and Phyl! |

Re: Introductions | ||

Another "intro" from a regular... I'm Lindsay, a/k/a LMurphy, she of the totally un-inventive screen name.
I'm a second-year undergrad student at Boston University, pre-med, and I volunteer one night a week in the Emergency Department at Beth Israel-Deaconess in the Longwood area of Boston. Between that, a one-month internship in a doctor's office at the end of high school, and growing up with a physician and an OR nurse, I have far more medical odds-n-ends stuffed into my head than is healthy for any 20-year-old, and hence I tend to serve as one of the board's "unofficial" medical commentators. Welcome to the board, everyone. Happy chatting. |

Burnsie |
Intro | ||
|
Hi I'm Burnsie. I'm mostly a lurker, but I comment occasionally. I thought I'd introduce myself because the way I experience ER is a little quirky. I've been a fan since the fourth season, but I decided to stop watching ER after the first episode of this season. I kept finding myself feeling too disturbed by some of the shocking or violent scenes in the show. I didn't like the way I felt after seeing Carter and Lucy stabbed and other similar scenes. After seeing and hearing the girl's body hitting the roof then the ground on Four Corners I decided to stop watching it. But here's the problem: I'm hooked on the characters of ER and feel a need to know what happens in their lives. So I check this site every day or so to make sure I don't miss a post and rely on Phyl's and Dave's reviews to keep me up to date on the show I can't leave alone. Keep the input coming because it helps me feel like I'm watching ER without actually watching ER. OK now that I'm done talking, you can all tell me how strange that is LOL.

Re: Intro | ||

Hi, all. I'm Cognitor, aka Beth, the creator and administrator of ERudition. I watched ER religiously up until Season 5, but then lost interest because of the lame-assed storylines that year. The good news is that I picked it back up again in Season 6, and have since repented by catching all the reruns on TNT. Unlike alot of long-time fans, I generally find the show just as enjoyable now as I did when it first aired - with the notable exception of that brief stint in Season 5.
I'm very pleased to have all of you visiting here, and I'd be even more pleased if a few of our lurkers decided to post a little more often. |

Hello Jenna! We love you, Jenna!
|
I'm Jenna, oddly enough.
I watched ER on and off through the years before finally giving in and succumbing to full-fledged addiction after George Clooney left. (It was nothing personal, darling...) I have since, like Beth, caught myself up on all things previous, thanks to TNT 0900 and TNT 1000. I will, on rare occasion, have significant, earth-shattering, profound, words-to-live-by input, but it can happen at anytime for, as they say, 'Even a blind pig finds an acorn every once in a while.' I'm a cracked wingnut dropped in the poo with a side of snark... |

KK |
Russians coming | ||
|
I guess it's my turn to introduce myself now. I am a 29 year old (probably the oldest here so far) ER's fan from Russia. I started watching the show in 1998 (I guess they began showing it in 1997 at several episodes per week) thanks to one of my colleagues and the last I watched was Season 7. As to the 8th, I keep speculating on it here (more or less successfully) and am looking forward to actually seeing it this fall. No offence, but I also think that the show is better without Clooney. KK is also quite an uninventive alias and stands for Katya Kisselyova (first and last names) and not for Kim and Kerry or any other combination it reminds you of. This is also my first experience with a message board and it is here where I am learning to express myself without hurting the others' feelings - I hope you won't judge me too strictly... OK, I'll leave some space for the next.

Yeah, bulletin boards are odd birds. But it's always helpful to know where people are coming from -- thanks for the background!
And should we call you KK, or Katya? (which is so much prettier, IMHO) |

Hi there | ||
|
I've been watching ER on and off since the first season, but it really wasn't until 2 or 3 seasons ago that I got hooked. I'm a physical therapist (recently licensed and still doing the job search thing). In school, watching ER was kind of a "thing" with the people in our class and the professors. One of the profs even had a saying for strange patient scenarios . . . "That kind of thing only happens in Cook County." It has been kind of fun to hear the characters use a whole string of technical terms and actually know what they are talking about.
I was glad to find this message board after several months of reading other ER-based boards. There just seems to be a higher level of maturity here, and it's nice that people are able to have informed discussions without everything turning into flames. I've been posting on a sports-related message board (under a different handle) for a number of years, and a lot of the people there could stand to learn a thing or two from everyone here. I appreciate the work the moderators do to keep this a good place to post (and lurk). |

Hi!
I'm Rachel, 24 years old, avid ER fan. I started watching ER When Lucy Knight was introduced, I've always loved Kellie Martin, so I figured I would finally see what the hype was about. Needless to say I became slightly addicted. I was so heartbroken after AitF that I stopped watching for a bit, but of course I was drawn back. Now I must state I am a full fledged Carby, (actually I think I am just obsessed with Abby), and a Weaver Lover. Also, as you may have noticed in the Character thread, I am a Chen-hater (as of last season actually, I don't think I ever warmed to her character). On a more personal note, I'm currently employed as a legal secretary, but I don't see that as permanent. I have a 5 year old daughter, am now fully out of the closet, and am currently single (that was TMI huh?? hahaha) LOL! I guess that's all I'll post for now. I'm very very glad to have come across this board, very thankful the folks over at the a.t.e web page made it 'official.' Everyone's posts on here have been a delight to read! A particular big big love hug goes out to Chicken and Cognitor... thanks so much for making this a great place ! -Rachel |

Hi Everybody! I'm Ellen and have been hooked on ER for many years! I usually don't have anything profound to add, but thanks for letting me put my 2 cents in every once in a while without getting flamed!! That was a real problem with other boards. It's nice chatting with everybody. Even though we don't always agree, at least everybody is civil. Thanks to the keepers of this board for all the info and hard work.

Chicken,
Both Katya and KK will do - whatever your prefer. Cog, Thank you for your efforts on the Erudition, as well as the excellent opportunity to converse with really intelligent and nice people. It's so much easier to address myself to you after being introduced (remember: Alice, this is pudding, pudding meet Alice.). And it will make our communication more personalized. So we are the patriarchs (or, more correctly, matriarchs) here. I wonder, who else do we have within the community (I guess I'm getting too curious - the appetite comes with eating). |

Re: Hi there | ||

Ok, Age=older than dirt. The rest of you are mere babes.
Profession= retired teacher, 30 years in large urban high school It started out as a central urban high school where I taught Latin and British Lit. eventually it wound up an inner city school where I learned to teach reading comprehension, and Shakespeare to gang bangers. I have also been a Children's Librarian, public library, and taught for awhile in a private boys' boarding school for the gifted. Most recently I have been teaching web page production to other teachers. At present I am slowly packing to move out of state, I'm tired of the city and going back to my small town roots. Started watching the reruns of ER on TNT last Feb., the weather was crappy, as it is today, and on punching the remote to find an alternative to Regis and whoever. I discovered ER. Spent about two months confused because I would catch random episodes from different seasons on TNT, WB and NBC. I think my biggest surprise was discovering that Emergency Vet. on Animal Planet is a take off of ER rather than the reverse. . |

Re: Introductions | ||

Hi there!
I've been reading this board for a week or so (love that spoiler forum!) after heading over from the alt.tv.er webpage (yeah, it's the highlight of my week too, LOL), and thought I might as well introduce myself and jump right in. I've been watching the show for about 2-ish years now, got addicted not long after the "All in the Family"/"Domino Heart" story arc (nothing against Kellie Martin or Lucy that would get me into the show after her departure, mind you....), and the rest is history (my husband knows it's hopeless to even venture near the television on Thursday nights). I'm a huge Maura Tierney/Abby fan (she's a wonderfully dark and complex character), and I suppose I'm a "Luby" (or whatever the twee name is these days) fan ....ahh, Goran Visnijic, don't even get me started on my lame little infatuation with him (though I will admit a soft spot for Elizabeth Mitchell as well--what can I say, I'm equal-opportunity). I'm also a student midwife so I enjoy yelling at the television screen over the finer points of obstetric management, and I'm a freelance writer so I don't relish groaning over lack of continuity and plausibility. Looking forward to the "erudition" on this board, Jenn (aka angst girl -- what can I say, angst was the first word that came to mind when I thought of ER!) |

Re: Introductions | ||

Hey,
I'm Jason Smith, I'm 17 and a senior in high school, with aspirations of becoming a doctor. I have been watching since last July, but thanks to TNT's reruns, I have seen the whole series through. I like the old school ER better than this angst-ridden facsimile that is on the air now. I hate Luka, love Carter and Abby, and hated to see Benton go and I'm going to hate to see Greene go. I like Chen, love Romano, and hate Weaver with a passion. That's me. No one else I know watches ER, so if anybody ever wants to discuss the episodes or anything, my AIM screen name is rjsmitty02. J. Re: Introductions

I just found this thread, so here I go.
Hi. I'm WhizGidget (a.k.a. Ann in real life) and I've been a fan of ER since Day 1 (isn't it appropriate that the pilot was so aptly named). I've sat and watched it all, the good and the bad. And the REALLLY bad. And I weathered the disappearance of Jerry, and am happy to see him back. I'm not in the medical profession, but am a business analyst who is just very good at science related subjects. I'm 30 *gasp!* and loving every second. I'm also a busy mom to two wonderful daughters. And, once upon a time, you could find me online at the Yahoo board as Andi2438... So I suppose that's all you need to know about me. -WG- |
